A quick and easy homemade snack mix combining sweet and salty flavors with crunchy pretzels, Chex cereal, mini marshmallows, and chopped mini candy bars. Perfect for parties, gifting, or anytime you want a nostalgic, crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups mini pretzels
  • 4 cups Chex cereal (rice or corn)
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • About 10 fun-size mini candy bars, chopped (Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, or favorites)
  • 1 cup salted peanuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup or honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of mini pretzels, 4 cups of Chex cereal, 2 cups mini marshmallows, and 1 cup salted peanuts (if using). Toss gently to mix.
  3. Chop your mini candy bars into bite-sized pieces.
  4. Add the chopped candy bars to the bowl, reserving a few pieces to sprinkle on top later. Stir gently to combine everything evenly.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter. Stir in 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 2 tablespoons corn syrup (or honey), and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and bubbly.
  6. Pour the warm butter mixture over the dry ingredients. Using a spatula, fold everything together carefully to coat the mix without breaking the candy bars too much.
  7. Spread the coated mix evenly over a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Toast in the oven for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to promote even toasting and prevent burning.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet.
  10. Once cool, sprinkle the reserved candy pieces on top for extra texture and appearance.
  11. Store in an airtight container once fully cooled.

Notes

Keep oven temperature low and stir every 15 minutes to prevent candy bars from melting too much. Use a sharp knife and room temperature candy bars for easier chopping. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut oil and use vegan candy bars and marshmallows. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Flavors improve after a day.
