A quick and satisfying low-carb recipe featuring juicy ground beef patties topped with crispy bacon and tangy blue cheese, all wrapped in tender butter lettuce leaves. Perfect for keto and low-carb diets.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend), preferably organic grass-fed
  • 6 slices bacon strips, cooked until crisp
  • ½ cup (about 75g) blue cheese crumbles
  • 8 large butter lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: sliced avocado, thinly sliced red onion, sugar-free mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon: Place 6 slices of bacon in a cold skillet over medium heat. Cook for about 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until crisp but not burnt. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess fat. Save the bacon fat in the pan for cooking the burgers.
  2. Prepare the burger mixture: In a large bowl, combine 1 pound (450g) of ground beef with 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix gently with your hands to avoid compacting the meat too much.
  3. Form patties: Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a roughly ¾-inch thick patty. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.
  4. Cook the burgers: Heat the skillet over medium-high heat and add a teaspoon of the reserved bacon fat or butter. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 4 minutes per side for medium doneness (internal temperature of 160°F / 71°C). Avoid pressing down on the patties to retain juiciness.
  5. Add blue cheese: Once flipped, sprinkle about 2 tablespoons (15g) of blue cheese crumbles on each patty. Cover the skillet with a lid or foil for 1–2 minutes to let the cheese melt slightly.
  6. Wash and prep lettuce: While the burgers cook, gently wash and pat dry 8 large butter lettuce leaves. These will be your wraps.
  7. Assemble the wraps: Place one burger patty on each lettuce leaf, add 1–2 slices of crisp bacon, and any optional toppings like avocado slices or red onion. Fold the lettuce around the filling like a taco.
  8. Serve immediately: These savory keto bacon blue cheese burger lettuce wraps are best enjoyed fresh and warm.

Notes

Do not overwork the meat to keep patties tender. Use bacon fat for cooking burgers to add smoky flavor. Indent patties to prevent puffing. Ensure lettuce leaves are dry to avoid sogginess. Cook burgers to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for safety and best taste. Store cooked patties and bacon separately from lettuce to keep wraps fresh.
