A festive and easy-to-make patriotic dessert featuring a fudgy brownie base topped with whipped cream and fresh star-shaped strawberries and blueberries, perfect for summer celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of brownie mix (preferably fudgy style, such as Ghirardelli or Betty Crocker), plus ingredients called for on the box (usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • Non-stick cooking spray or butter for greasing the pan
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold (or store-bought whipped cream)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced into star shapes
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries, washed and patted dry

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10 or 12-inch round pizza pan or large rimmed baking sheet with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter according to the box instructions, combining the mix with eggs, oil, and water. Stir until just combined.
  3. Pour the batter onto the prepared pan and spread evenly to the edges, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, checking at 18 minutes with a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.
  5. Remove from oven and cool completely on a cooling rack for 30 to 45 minutes.
  6. Whip the cold heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract using an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  7. Spread the whipped cream evenly over the cooled brownie using a spatula.
  8. Arrange blueberries in horizontal stripes across the pizza to mimic stripes.
  9. Use star-shaped strawberry slices to create the stars section in one corner, then fill the rest with alternating rows of strawberries and blueberries.
  10. Refrigerate the decorated brownie pizza for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the whipped cream set.

Notes

Do not overbake the brownies to keep them fudgy. Cool the brownie completely before adding whipped cream to prevent melting. Use cold cream and chilled equipment for best whipped cream texture. Use fresh, firm berries to avoid sogginess. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. For dairy-free, use coconut whipped cream; for gluten-free, use gluten-free brownie mix.
