A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe that delivers crispy skin and tender, juicy flesh, topped with a bright and silky lemon butter sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), fresh or thawed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it warm up for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and lightly score the skin side with a sharp knife.
  3. Brush both sides of the salmon fillets with olive oil, then season generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, leaving space for air circulation.
  5. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes depending on thickness (about 1 inch / 2.5 cm thick).
  6. While salmon cooks, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  7. Stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, and chopped parsley. Remove from heat.
  8. Check salmon doneness by flaking with a fork; it should be moist inside with slight resistance.
  9. Transfer salmon to plates, spoon warm lemon butter sauce over the top, and garnish with extra lemon slices or herbs if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon skin dry thoroughly to ensure crispiness. Do not flip salmon during cooking to keep skin intact. Make lemon butter sauce while salmon cooks for perfect timing. If skin sticks, gently loosen with a spatula. Avoid burning garlic in sauce.
