A quick and easy festive snack mix featuring animal crackers lightly coated in vanilla frosting, sprinkled with red and blue colored sugar, and mixed with white chocolate chips. Perfect for Fourth of July and summer parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups (180 grams) animal crackers, vanilla-flavored
  • 1 cup (240 grams) vanilla frosting, store-bought or homemade
  • 2 tablespoons red colored sugar
  • 2 tablespoons blue colored sugar
  • 1/2 cup (90 grams) white chocolate chips
  • Optional: mini marshmallows or sprinkles for added texture and color

Instructions

  1. Place about 6 cups (180 grams) of animal crackers into a large mixing bowl, being gentle to avoid crumbling.
  2. Spoon 1 cup (240 grams) of vanilla frosting over the crackers.
  3. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, gently fold the frosting into the crackers to coat them evenly.
  4. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons each of red and blue colored sugar over the coated crackers and fold gently to distribute evenly.
  5. Fold in 1/2 cup (90 grams) of white chocolate chips.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the mixture in a single layer.
  7. Allow the party mix to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to let the frosting set. Alternatively, refrigerate for 15 minutes to speed up setting.
  8. Once set, gently break apart any clusters and transfer to a serving bowl.

Notes

Use room temperature frosting for easier coating. Mix gently to avoid breaking crackers. Let the mix rest for 30 minutes to set the frosting and keep crackers crisp. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Reheat briefly at 300°F (150°C) to restore crispness if needed.
