A quick and easy cherry cobbler made with canned cherry pie filling and yellow cake mix, perfect for last-minute desserts that are comforting and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 21 oz (595 g) canned cherry pie filling
  • 15.25 oz (432 g) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour the canned cherry pie filling evenly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry layer without stirring.
  4. Melt 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter until fully liquid but not boiling.
  5. Pour the melted butter slowly and evenly over the cake mix layer.
  6. Optional: Add 1/2 teaspoon almond extract on top or mix into the melted butter.
  7. Place the baking dish uncovered in the oven and bake for 45–50 minutes until the top is golden brown and the cherry filling bubbles around the edges.
  8. If the cobbler browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil halfway through baking.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
  10. Scoop and serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use real unsalted butter, melted but not too hot, to avoid cooking the dry cake mix prematurely. Do not stir the cake mix into the cherries to maintain texture contrast. If browning too fast, cover with foil halfway through baking. Let cool before serving for easier scooping.
