This recipe delivers crispy, juicy chicken thighs glazed with a sticky honey garlic sauce, cooked quickly and easily in an air fryer for a perfect weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 1.5 pounds / 680 grams)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or regular)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze by whisking together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes if using in a medium bowl.
  2. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Rub olive oil evenly over the skin side and season lightly with black pepper.
  3. Toss chicken thighs in half of the honey garlic glaze to coat. Let sit for 10 minutes if time allows.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place chicken thighs skin-side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 12 minutes.
  6. Flip thighs skin-side up and cook for another 8 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Brush remaining honey garlic glaze over hot chicken thighs immediately after cooking.
  8. Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pat chicken dry thoroughly for crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Apply glaze mostly after cooking to prevent burning. Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F (74°C). For extra sticky glaze, brush an additional layer halfway through the last 8 minutes of cooking but watch closely to avoid burning.
