These crispy Cuban sandwich sliders are quick and easy to make, featuring melty Swiss cheese, savory ham, roast pork, and tangy pickles pressed inside buttery toasted slider buns. Perfect for entertaining, game days, or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Slider buns (soft Hawaiian rolls or mini brioche buns)
  • Thinly sliced Swiss cheese (Emmi or Jarlsberg recommended)
  • Thinly sliced deli ham (smoked ham optional)
  • Thin slices of slow-roasted pork shoulder or leftover pulled pork
  • Thinly sliced dill pickles
  • Yellow mustard
  • Unsalted softened butter
  • Optional: garlic powder or paprika for butter spread

Instructions

  1. Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on the outside of each bun half.
  2. On the bottom half of each bun, spread a thin layer of yellow mustard. Layer 2-3 slices of roast pork, followed by 2-3 slices of ham, then 2-3 slices of Swiss cheese. Add a few thin pickle slices on top, then place the other bun half over the filling.
  3. Warm a cast-iron skillet or grill pan over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes until hot enough to sizzle when buttered.
  4. Place the assembled sliders in the skillet, buttered side down. Brush the tops with butter. Use a heavy spatula or sandwich press to gently press down on the sliders with about 2-3 pounds of pressure. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side until bread is golden brown and cheese begins to melt.
  5. Carefully flip the sliders, press down once more, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is fully melted. Lower heat if bread browns too fast.
  6. Remove sliders from skillet and let rest for 2 minutes before slicing apart and serving.

Notes

Use medium heat to avoid burning the bread before cheese melts. Press sliders firmly but do not squash. Use thin slices of meat and cheese for even heating. Butter the outside of buns generously for a crispy crust. Let sliders rest before slicing to keep fillings intact. Keep finished sliders warm in a 200°F oven if making a large batch. For gluten-free or dairy-free versions, swap buns and cheese accordingly.
