These crispy air fryer avocado fries feature a crunchy, perfectly spiced exterior with creamy avocado inside, paired with a fresh and tangy zesty lime dip. They are quick, easy, and less oily than traditional frying, making them a perfect snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados (firm but yielding, not too soft)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (can substitute with almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (preferably Japanese-style)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional but recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup
  • Pinch of salt for the dip

Instructions

  1. Cut ripe avocados in half, remove the pit, and gently slice each half into 6-8 wedges about 1/2 inch thick. Handle carefully to avoid mashing.
  2. Set up breading stations: place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in a second bowl, and in a third bowl combine panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each avocado wedge first in flour, shaking off excess, then dip into beaten eggs, and coat evenly with the panko mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Arrange coated avocado wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  6. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Watch closely after 7 minutes to avoid burning.
  7. While fries cook, whisk together Greek yogurt, lime juice, chopped cilantro, honey, and a pinch of salt to make the zesty lime dip. Chill until serving.
  8. Serve the avocado fries immediately with the lime dip.

Notes

Use firm but ripe avocados to avoid mushy fries. Pat avocado slices dry before breading to help coating stick. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to keep fries crispy. Flip fries halfway through cooking for even browning. Parmesan cheese in the coating adds umami and helps browning. Lime dip can be made ahead and chilled. For gluten-free, substitute almond flour and gluten-free breadcrumbs. Vegan option: replace eggs with flaxseed egg and Parmesan with nutritional yeast.
