Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp preferred)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil spray
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Peel and core 2 medium apples, then dice into 1/4-inch cubes. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat 1 large egg until smooth. Add 1/3 cup whole milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract; mix lightly.
  4. Slowly pour wet mixture into dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in diced apples carefully.
  5. Spray air fryer basket with vegetable oil spray and preheat at 350°F for 3 minutes.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the basket spaced about 1 inch apart. Cook 4-5 fritters per batch.
  7. Air fry at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking.
  8. While fritters cook, whisk together 3/4 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract to make glaze.
  9. Transfer cooked fritters to a cooling rack. Drizzle warm fritters with cinnamon glaze and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to keep fritters crispy. Flip fritters halfway through cooking for even browning. Adjust batter consistency with milk or flour if needed. Use fresh apples for best texture. Drizzle glaze while fritters are warm for best results. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days and reheat in air fryer to maintain crispiness.
