This cozy biscuits and gravy casserole combines flaky biscuits and creamy sausage gravy into a comforting dish perfect for lazy mornings or chilly evenings.

Ingredients

  • Refrigerated biscuits
  • Ground sausage
  • All-purpose flour
  • Whole milk
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Optional spices: garlic powder or paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your casserole dish lightly with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Lower the heat to medium. Add butter to the skillet and let it melt. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to coat evenly. Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the gravy thickens. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. If using whole biscuits, cut them into quarters. Arrange half of the biscuits in the bottom of the greased casserole dish.
  5. Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuits, spreading it evenly. Place the remaining biscuit pieces on top of the gravy.
  6. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

[‘Take your time whisking the gravy to ensure it’s smooth and lump-free.’, ‘Taste the gravy before layering it into the casserole and adjust the seasoning as needed.’, ‘Bake until the biscuits are golden brown but not overly crisp to avoid drying out the casserole.’, ‘If the gravy seems too thick, add a splash of milk to loosen it up.’]
