Tender, juicy meatballs simmered in a rich, savory gravy with onions and mushrooms, perfect for cozy family dinners or potlucks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (regular or panko)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until well combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. This should make around 20 meatballs.
  3. Place the meatballs in the slow cooker in a single layer.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together beef broth, brown gravy mix, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the mixture over the meatballs.
  5. Top with sliced mushrooms and dot with small pieces of butter.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours.
  7. Optional: If the gravy is too thin, mix 1 tablespoon of flour with 2 tablespoons of water and stir it into the slow cooker. Let it cook for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice for the ultimate comfort meal!

Notes

[‘Don’t overmix the meatball mixture to avoid tough meatballs.’, ‘Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized meatballs.’, ‘Sear meatballs in a skillet before slow cooking for added flavor.’, ‘Layer ingredients thoughtfully for even cooking.’, ‘Check gravy thickness and adjust with flour-water mixture if needed.’]
