  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving drippings in the skillet.
  3. Add chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent.
  4. In a large bowl, combine baked beans, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, cooked bacon, and sautéed onions. Mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a baking dish.
  6. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until bubbly and thickened.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a splash of apple cider vinegar or a pinch of smoked paprika. Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar.
